Windowbase adds extra security to prospect data

Windowbase, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is increasing the security of its prospect data and the information customers add to records. The online management system Prospect Manager already uses strong usernames and passwords, but an extra layer of protection is being added, making it as secure as online banking or shopping sites.Online security

Windowbase’s Database Manager Neil Parsonson explains: “These websites are traditionally more secure but we believe encryption will be seen increasingly as essential. It’s likely that the next release of Google’s Chrome browser will alert people whenever they land on a website that is not encrypted! We’re making the change to our prospect data now.”

From the end of January, all information customers upload to Windowbase’s Prospect Manager, including their login details, extra contact names, notes or quotation details will be hidden from potential prying eyes. Information customers view or download will also benefit from this additional layer of security.

Subscribers to Windowbase’s prospect data will automatically be transferred to the new secure area by following the ‘login’ link on www.windowbase.info. The only visible difference will be the padlock symbol in the address bar and pages being preceded by ‘https:// rather than ‘http://’.

“It’s an assurance to our customers that they’re working in an extra secure environment,” adds Neil. “So they can focus on using our fabricator, installer and trade counter data to target prospects and win new business”.
